The practice was established in 1981 when Steve Elphick set up his consultancy practice after 14 years within the air conditioning and building services consultancy industry.

Steve Elphick
Founder & CEO
Steve founded the business back in 1981 and grew it into the powerhouse it is today! Not only has he worked with some of the biggest names in the business, but his building services knowledge is unmatched. Outside of work you’ll likely find him in France, sipping on his favourite red wine.
Ross Elphick
MEP Building Services & Sustainability Consultant
Ross followed in his father’s footsteps and has a Master of Science (MSc) focused on Building Services Engineering. He is highly experience with a demonstrated history of working in the design industry; especially in Renewable Energy Systems, Mechanical Ventilation, and Building Surveying. Ross is dedicated to his work and passion, so he’s mostly found in the office, although he does still manage to hit the slopes every year.
Abdul Rifkhan
MEP Building Services & Sustainability Consultant
As the longest serving employee, Abdul has a vast amount of experience in Mechanical Building Services. He has an MSc in Sustainable Energy Systems, BEng (Hons) in Building Services, and is a fully qualified Non-Domestic Energy Assessor (NDEA). This mellow character prides himself on always being early and secretly enjoys helping out his colleagues. Outside of work Abdul enjoys gardening and athletics, he’s also patiently waiting for Ferrari’s F1 comeback.
Desmond McCarthy
Building Services Consultant
Desmond joined SEA Consulting in 2022. After a career in construction including commercial fit outs, he trained as a commercial and domestic energy assessor looking for a change. Seeing an opportunity he rapidly set about starting his own HIP company and very soon the company was producing up to 200 HIPs and EPCs per week across Greater London. In the interim years he has continued practicing as an energy assessor producing nearly 10,000 EPCs, studying part time for a Building Surveying Degree and being a dad to four children. His interests include historic building conservation, carpentry, swimming, walking and Rugby. He thinks “you’re going to need a bigger boat” is the greatest line in Cinema history.
Mukesh Ramaraj
MEP Building Services & Sustainability Consultant
Mukesh joined the team back in 2021 and has never looked back…we hope. He has an MSc in Building Services and a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering supplemented with over 10 years’ experience. He shines at troubleshooting and problem solving, smoothly tackling any issues he encounters. Along with his diverse set of skills and experience, he’s also the first to offer help to those in training. Outside of the office, he loves seeing the world with his family and watching films.
Sarah Wilson
Sustainability Consultant
Sarah is our second longest serving employee! She started off working in the SEA Consulting Admin Team, but that wasn’t enough for her. She took the leap to learn and developed her skills to become a Non-Domestic Energy Assessor (NDEA), and she continues to develop every day. Outside of work you can find her cheering on the South African Rugby Team, spending time with family and friends, and strolling through the beautiful English countryside.
Joel Saldana
MEP Building Services & Sustainability Consultant
Joel is our newest addition with an MSc in Building Services Engineering, complemented by 7 years of experience in the field of MEP. Joel excels in strategic problem solving, consistently enhancing team success and project outcomes. Outside of work, Joel enjoys travel, watching movies and listening to music. He’s also on a quest to try every flavour of ice cream known to humanity, even ketchup flavoured ice cream.
Rohiya Tazmeen
MEP Building Services & Sustainability Consultant
Rohiya joined SEA Consulting in 2022, bringing a wealth of knowledge. She has an MSc in Building Services Engineering and a Bachelors in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. During her time at SEA she’s become a fully qualified Non-Domestic Energy Assessor. She came to London hoping to find snow, which she very occassionally does. Outside of work she loves spending time with her family and friends, sometimes the odd colleague too.
Janet Hughes
Business Manager
Janet has been with us for nearly 3 years, working behind the scenes to ensure SEA Consulting runs smoothly and she knows what she’s doing! Janet comes from a Compliance and Risk background, she brings a real wealth of skills with her from being extremely organises, to critical thinking and problem solving. She should have been a detective with the expertise she brings to the table. Outside of work, Janet enjoys walking, pilates, yoga and dancing to Northern Soul.
